For the first time, cutting-edge research and a survey of employers in Michigan aggregates detail on new technologies that most affect how companies do business and what can be done to ensure a well-trained workforce in the future. WIN created an extensive employer survey for Michigan companies to help shed light on what leaders predict will be the economic and workforce-related effects of disruptive technologies and other trends. We call these technologies Eureka! Technology – innovations that help create a new market and value chain that will eventually go on to fundamentally alter an existing market and value chain, displacing an earlier technology, process, or practice. Explore the report to find out what Michigan’s employers think about what’s next for business innovation and what the workforce needs to do to prepare.

Lisa Katz is Executive Director of the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) of Southeast Michigan. WIN is a consortium of 7 Michigan Works! Agencies and 9 community colleges formed to create a comprehensive and cohesive talent system that provides regional employers with the talent they need for success. To help direct their efforts, WIN provides partners with real-time and other labor market information; engages employers through occupational cluster strategies related to information technology, advanced manufacturing, health care, and retail and hospitality; and supports policy awareness and change efforts, with a special focus on career awareness and readiness.
