The June 6, 2025 meeting of the Michigan Alliance for Greater Mobility Advancement (MAGMA) Advisory Council, convened by the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN), brought together automotive OEMs, suppliers, educators, and workforce leaders to explore trends shaping the future of work. The session focused on the WIN 2024 labor market reports and key insights from Deloitte’s Tech Trends 2025 and Human Capital Trends 2025 studies. WIN Executive Director Michele Economou Ureste welcomed attendees and emphasized MAGMA’s role in uniting industry stakeholders to drive mobility and talent solutions across Michigan. She introduced Laurie Huber, WIN Project Manager, as the event moderator.
Tech Trends 2025 – Presented by Deloitte:
Abhijith Ravinutala shared how artificial intelligence is becoming as foundational as electricity, driven by advancements in spatial computing, specialized AI models, and AI-enabled hardware. He highlighted real-world applications—from drone monitoring in oil fields to predictive analytics in sports—and stressed the growing importance of compound AI systems and strategic investment in AI infrastructure. WIN 2024 Labor Market Report Highlights:
Haley Porter, Associate Project Manager and Research Analyst at WIN, presented key findings from the 2024 labor market reports:

Labor Force Growth: Continued across Michigan with a 4.5% unemployment rate—slightly higher than 2023 but near pre-pandemic levels.

Job Postings: Declined from 2023 levels, averaging 133,682/month in the WIN region. Customer service roles led demand, but Health care is still the most in-demand occupation group.

Education Requirements: Varied by occupation; bachelor’s degrees and high school diplomas were most common.

Demographic Trends: Provided insights into skill demand, occupational clusters, and workforce credentials in both the WIN region and the state.
